Spring has sprung! This is a great time for a thorough Spring Cleaning of lockers, book bags, binders, folders, etc. Make a plan to get organized for the rest of the school year, and in preparation for final exams. The end of the year will be here before you know it. To eliminate some of the anxiety and stress that comes with exams you should start preparing now. Don’t wait until the week before exams to start studying. Students should divide the study material into small chunks or sections. Creating a study schedule on a calendar for each subject creates a visual plan of smaller chunks of information to study. When you review in short study sessions repeatedly, you are more likely to retain the information. It’s important to remember that just “reading over notes” is the least effective method of studying. Making flash cards, creating test questions, and having study sessions with others are some ways that work for students. Don’t forget to include material from notes, old tests and quizzes, and study guides. Take advantage of review sessions offered by teachers. It is also important to have a good night sleep and a good breakfast prior to any exam. If you are feeling overwhelmed, please see me for assistance.
