• Welcome to 7th grade ELA!

This year, we will do loads of reading and writing. Be ready with a writing utensil and paper at all times.

You will be choosing books to read independently each quarter, but we will also be reading some books together as a class. Some of these classroom reads are The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, and Woods Runner by Gary Paulsen.  You will be required to purchase your own copy of The Outsiders, and we can order that through Scholastic in the early fall. Then you'll be able to write in the text, take notes, highlight, and really practice your active reading strategies. We will provide you with copies of the other two books, but since you won't be able to write in those texts, you'll need some sticky notes.

You will need a composition notebook with you EVERY day.
