    Students can access the 2023 CHS Common Scholarship Awards application here or on the front page of the CHS Website. This application enables seniors to be eligible for over seventy scholarships.

     The deadline for this application is March 24, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.

    2023 Series Scholarships for Academic Excellence

    • New York State offers awards based on academic excellence: the demonstrated ability to perform, achieve, and/or excel in scholastic activities.
    • 1 award for $1500
    • 7 awards for $500
    • The selection criteria is based on class rank
    • *no action is required by the student*

    Bank on Buffalo Scholarship – For High School graduating seniors with the intention of furthering their education at a college or university and seeking a business-related degree.  Students must attend a high school in the BankOnBuffalo market area.  Dependents of Directors or Officers of BankOnBuffalo are not eligible to apply.     Principal’s Scholarship Award -                                                    

    Open to graduating seniors from area high schools in Region 12      Number of awards:  2                                                                Award description: certificate from SAANYS and a $750 cash award

    Criteria:

    • Nominating school administrator must be a SAANYS member
    • Student's school attendance
    • Academic achievements including participation in career and technical education
    • Extra-curricular activities: clubs, sports and/or community involvement
    • Personal attributes example: honesty, civic responsibility, etc.
    • Plans after high school: job, military, or college
    • Outstanding accomplishments

    NYSIR Scholarship - The Board of Trustees of the New York Schools Insurance Foundation and the Board of Governors of the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal are pleased to announce that they are once again offering Cristin Bambino, Paul Jensen and Joseph Goncalves scholarship awards. These scholarships are for college-bound students from NYSIR-subscribing districts only. A committee will review all applications and scholarship winners will be notified by the end of May.

    The Eighth District Federated Garden Clubs of New York State - $1,000 stipend to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in a two or four-year college.  A one-time payment deposited into the student’s bookstore account.  Applicants must be planning to major in agricultural, horticultural, environmental, or related fields. Applications are available online at www.gardenclubsofwny.com. Deadline:  Applications must be postmarked between March 15 – 31, 2023

    The Speech-Language-Hearing Association of WNY (SHAWNY)- Dena Goldstein Memorial Scholarship. Any WNY high school senior who has a speech, language and/or hearing impairment and plans to further his/her education is eligible to apply. Download the application from www.shawny.org.                                                        Deadline: Must be postmarked by March 24, 2023

    Kreher Family Farms Scholarship– This $500 scholarship is for a Clarence High School senior who plans a career in agriculture or the food industry. A short essay is required. The application is available here. Deadline: Application and essay must be returned to the Guidance Office by the end of the school day on March 24, 2023

    Jean Ellen Mayer Memorial Scholarship This $250 scholarship is sponsored by the CHS PTO and Mr. Dennis Mayer, and is available to a college-bound senior who is community minded and has a strong sense of social responsibility. A short essay and letters of recommendation are required. More information is available here. Deadline: Essay and letters of recommendations must be returned to the Guidance Office by the end of the school day on March 24, 2023

    James E. Grosse Memorial Scholarship– The Clarence Jaycees will offer two scholarships in memory of James E. Grosse. Candidates should have a positive attitude and have had to overcome hardships on their way to college. For scholarship requirements, click here.     The Jon Snitzer Memorial Scholarship-This scholarship was created in the memory of Jon Snitzer who graduated in the class of 2016. Jon truly cherished his experience at Clarence High School because of his time in the classroom and on the baseball field. He learned about his love for science, especially physics, which helped his curiosity for the sciences bloom as he moved on to college and beyond. However, his place on the baseball team rounded out his high school experience, giving him a community of lifelong friendships and the opportunity to play the sport he loved. Students who apply for this scholarship should be a student athlete, have a GPA above 90% and plan on attending college in the fall.     Grasshopper Scholarship - Who should apply?  Anyone who wants to attend college or trade school should apply.  One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded based on need and want.  Video submission is required that discusses the following:         

    • Your work/career goal and your plan to achieve it, even if it's just a high-level plan
    • If you could do anything in the whole world with your work day, what would it look like?
    • Don't be shy, this is not the time for modesty-why do you feel you are deserving of this scholarship?

    Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program for High School Seniors - Know a high school senior planning to attend a two- or four-year college, or continuous education program in the fall? They may be eligible for a $10,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship from The Sallie Mae Fund and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. High school seniors who are US citizens or permanent residents and plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program during the 2023-2024 academic year are eligible.  Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills and moral character, as well as submit a short video describing how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goals.  Working in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, we will award 75, $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors over three years, totaling $750,000 as part of The Sallie Mae Fund’s $3 million commitment to help students from all backgrounds pursue higher education.     2023 Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County Master Gardener College Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship available to a student planning a course of student in horticulture, botany or a related field.     The One Hundred Club of Buffalo, Inc. Scholarship– Students must be the son or daughter of, or they themselves, active law enforcement, fire (including volunteer firefighters) and/or EMS personnel. Apply online at www.100clubbuffalo.org. Deadline: March 31, 2023

    Student Movement Against Cancer Inc. (SMAC) Cancer Fighter Scholarship - The Cancer Fighter Scholarship seeks to honor ten (10) graduating high school seniors from around the nation who have been leaders in the fight against cancer. This includes students who have battled cancer themselves, helped loved ones/friends through cancer, or led the fight against cancer in their school and community.     The Buffalo Astronomical Association (BAA) Rowland A. Rupp, Jr. Astronomy Scholarship -   $5,000 scholarship opportunity for a qualifying, college-bound high school senior who desires to pursue a degree in an astronomy-related field.     Clarence American Legion Post 838 Scholarship- A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound Clarence High School senior. This scholarship is based upon completion of an original 450-500-word essay.  For an application click here.     The Erie 1 BOCES Educational Foundation, in partnership with the Amherst Federal Credit Union, is accepting scholarship applications for 2022.     The Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen of  the State of  New York (SWAVF) and its Ladies Auxiliary are pleased to announce its community service scholarship program for 2023. This is open to all high school seniors who will graduate in 2023 and will be enrolling for full-time study at an accredited institution of post-secondary study in the fall of 2023.     Clarence Northtowns Federal Credit Union CHS Academy of Business & Finance Scholarship - One $250.00 scholarship will be awarded. Eligibility is open to all Clarence High School AOBF students who are high school seniors attending an accredited college, university or other institution of higher learning during the next academic year.     Western Chapter of the New York Water Environment, Inc.     Allentown Art Festival Student Art Scholarships – Scholarships totaling more than $17,000 was awarded this past year.     Student-View Scholarship-$12,000 worth of scholarship money to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school.     Garden Friends of Clarence Scholarship – This $500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Clarence High School senior who has excelled in a minimum of four science courses, has contributed significantly towards the beautification of their community and plans to pursue a career in science, technology or any of the following career paths: Landscape Design, Floral Design, Forestry, Environmental studies, Agriculture, Horticulture, Green Energy & Green Technologies, and other related fields.     Kidsplay Scholarship - $1,000 awarded to a graduating senior who participated in a KidsPlay program as a child.  Apply online at www.kidsplaywny.com/scholarship  Deadline: April 24, 2023

    Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo – High school seniors in good standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher are considered for up to $6000 to be utilized toward educational expenses.     Erie County Committee of the American Legion and Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek Scholarships- Two scholarships to students/veterans attending college in 2023. Visit www.eriecountyal.org Deadline: May 5, 2023

    The Italian American Police Association -  The scholarships are in the name of two of our members who lost their lives in the line of duty. The scholarships are offered to high school seniors who have been accepted and will be attending college. There are no conditions of ethnic background, gender, or what degree they will pursue.     The Braille Group of Buffalo Inc. offers an annual scholarship for Braille readers. Scholarship money is available for visually impaired students whose primary reading media is Braille and whose residence is in one of the eight counties of Western New York with a zip code of 14---. Scholarship money may be used to offset expenses students may encounter as they continue their studies beyond high school.     PB&J Scholarship – $500 scholarship awarded to students who have experienced challenges in their life and who have the drive to succeed.  Applicants must be a college-bound student attending a 2 or 4 year college.
