Kindergarten Math Facts
Your child will learn many mathematical concepts this year and have the opportunity to participate in daily hands-on math activities while at school. In addition to the activities from our Envisions math curriculum, your child will also be learning basic math facts.
As you may already know, the Common Core Curriculum adopted by New York State now provides specific guidelines relating to math facts at each grade level. By the end of kindergarten, students should be fluent with addition and subtraction facts up to five (no numbers bigger than 5). To be fluent, a student needs to be able to solve the fact quickly (without counting on hands, drawing pictures, etc.).
We will have time to practice math facts at school. To support your child with this learning however, we ask that you practice these facts at home. You will be receiving a set of addition flashcards and eventually subtraction cards to keep at home. The math facts that your child will be required to know are listed below for your reference.
We thank you in advance for your support.
