The most important thing you can do at home is read to your child. As the year progresses your child will bring home books to read to you!
Here are some other things that you can do at home to help your child be a successful learner:
- Talk with your child. This builds vocabulary, knowledge, independence and self-esteem.
- Tell stories to your child and have him or her tell stories to you.
- Reinforce Upper and Lowercase letter writing and recognition.
- Practice letter sounds.
- Review the sight words that have been sent home.
