    Homework

    Homework will usually consist of:

Reading: Students are expected to read approximately 20-30 minutes and be able to discuss what they have read.  This work should be recorded on a reading log which will be reviewed daily during Readers Workshop.  Students may also be asked to complete a short writing task related to this reading.

Writing: Students may be assigned occasional writing activities to supplement Writers Workshop lessons.

Classwork:  Students may be asked to complete tasks not finished in class

Math: Online skills practice using IXL and/or Pearson Practice Buddies may be assigned. Each program provides "Question Help" to assist students.

Word Study:  Students may be asked to complete word study and vocabulary work at home.

    Student Responsibility and Accountability

The Fifth Grade Teachers ask that if your child forgets his/her homework, lunch, musical instrument, or sneakers at home, please DO NOT bring that item into the front office. The consequences at school will allow your child to learn a valuable lesson in a safe environment.  Students are not allowed to call home due to forgetting these items.
