Band begins the first week of January 2022. Students who have earned a place in band will be invited to attend rehearsals twice a week after school.

    Expectations:

    1. ATTEND AND PREPARE (PRACTICE) FOR ALL LESSONS.

    - Tests, field trips, and assemblies are valid excuses to miss a lesson, but see your lesson teacher early in the day to reschedule.

    - Students are expected to fully prepare their weekly lesson page and work on their scales, exercises, and band music. 100 minutes/week of practice earns a “3”. Daily practice for 30 minutes earns a “4”.

    2. ATTEND ALL BAND REHEARSALS.

    - Remember: Our band sound is dependent on all individuals being there.

    - If you must miss a rehearsal, please send in a note. (A note is not necessary if the student is absent from school.) Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during band, if possible.

    3. ATTEND ALL BAND CONCERTS.

    - We need everyone at every concert for success. Please put the concert dates on your calendars.

    - Communicate any major conflicts to Mrs. Bennett ASAP.

    4. Students are expected to act professionally during rehearsal.

    5. Respect property: Do not touch another student’s instrument for any reason.

    6. Bring all necessary materials: band folder with music (given at first rehearsal), pencil, good reeds, etc.

    7. All band music passed out is to be returned in good condition - if you need to write on the music, use pencil only, please. Our music is from our music library and we want to keep it in good condition.
