• Classroom Information

           You will have an exciting year in third grade and will learn many new things.  I hope this website will serve as a place where I can share what is going on in our classroom with you.  I have included basic classroom routines and information.  But, it will be a work in progress, so please stop by often.


    • Expose students to different reading genres through the Readers Workshop format
    • Learn various skills and strategies to help improve our reading
    • Utilize a variety of reading materials to help students gain a greater understanding of subject content



    • Consume, critique, and produce a variety of writing genres  (essay, report, memoir, summary)
    • Use proper grammar and writing conventions


    Word Study

    • Work with word patterns
    • Apply spelling strategies to written work



    • Explore concepts related to systems and simple machines, weather, structures



    • Learn about the body systems (skeletal and muscular)


    Social Studies

    • Geography
    • The United States
    • Brazil
    • China



    • Develop greater familiarity with numbers and their values
    • Demonstrate mastery of addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division facts
    • Explore and use time, measurement, money, estimation, geometry and fractions
    • Develop problem solving skills
    • Communicate problem solving strategies orally and in writing
