Parent Member

Under New York State law, a Parent Member is not required to be in attendance at CPSE and CSE meetings. They are available at parent request.

You are eligible to serve if you are the parent of a child currently receiving special education services from the District or has graduated within the last five years.

Meetings are held during the school day.

At a meeting, a Parent Member participates in discussions about eligibility for services, IEP development and provides support for both the parent and the student. Parent Members also provide information and support by ensuring that all the concerns of the parent and student are addressed and that the parent and student understand the evaluation process.

A training session is required for all Parent Members.

Training sessions are done through BOCES.
