• Dear Parents,

Our school has signed up to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, a free online reading program that invites children to log their reading minutes to help set a new world record for summer reading.

The world record attempt began on May 15th and concludes September 3, 2015. The total logged reading minutes, along with the top 20 schools, will be published in the 2016 edition of the Scholastic Book of World Records.  Along with your summer reading please complete 2 of the reading extensions from the attached sheets below (entering 6th graders need not do reading extension activities).  In order to participate in grade level “Prize” in September, each K – 5 student must complete 2 responses, log 1000 minutes on the Scholastic site and turn in their responses by September 4, 2015.

To log your child’s minutes go to http://www.scholastic.com/summer  Click on “Go Now” under the kids section and then log in with the unique screen name provided to your child in the letter you received from his/her teacher.  If you have misplaced the letter you can contact the office. Only minutes logged in on the computer will be accepted.  You can log in minutes 1 x/day up to two previous weeks.  Please log minutes weekly at a minimum.  Also below is information on how to complete the two reading responses.

    Happy Reading,

    Miss Coggins
