    About Mrs. Kohler:

    Heidi Kohler is in her twenty-third year of teaching vocal and general music at Clarence Middle School.  She is the director of Sixth and Eighth Grade Chorus.  Mrs. Kohler is also the Vocal Director of the middle school musical, Show Choir, Guys' Choir and Treble Show Choir.  In addition to this, she teaches 6th grade General Music and voice lessons. 

    Mrs. Kohler is certified in Special Education (PreK-12), Elementary Education (K-6), and Music (K-12).  She received her BSED from the State University of New York at Geneseo and her M.A. in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. 

    Under Mrs. Kohler's tenure at CMS, the Vocal Music program has grown in both number and opportunities. Early in her career, she successfully fought to make  Summer Vocal Lessons available to middle school students through the Clarence Music Boosters program.  She also founded two extracurricular ensembles- Treble Show Choir and Guys' Choir- as well as co-founding the Summer Theater Workshop, with her husband, Mr. Kohler.

    Mrs. Kohler  is an active part of the Clarence Middle School community and has served on several committees for student development.   With a focus on cross-curricular education, she strives to integrate music, student experience, and academic subjects, exemplified in such programs as the History Alive! Concert Series.  She serves on the Orientation Team, School Culture School Committee as well as numerous other past committees, mentored many new teachers and has written several articles on character development for the Clarence Bee. 

    Mrs. Kohler is a member of NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), MENC (Music Educators National Conference), ACDA (American Choir Directors Association) and ECMEA (Erie County Music Educators Association) and has served as Chair for the Junior High North Band.  Mrs. Kohler has been nominated for Who's  Who in America's Teachers in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 as well as  Who's Who in American Women 2006 and Who's Who Among Emerging Leaders 2007.
