The Clarence Central School District owns and maintains its own bus fleet. We are extremely proud of our safety and fleet maintenance records, which are always in the top 10% of the entire state. We have about 120 employees (including bus drivers, mechanics, attendants, transportation clerk and supervisors) who work out of the bus facility at 9825 County Road (716-407-9500). Although the numbers change constantly, we travel well over 1,000,000 miles each year, have almost 100 vehicles and transport approximately 5,200 students to approximately 60 different sites.

Transportation is provided for students in grades K-6 residing more than .2 mile from their schools and students in grades 7-12 residing more than .9 mile from their school. The mileage is measured from the student's home to the school or bus stop. Students living within those guidelines are expected to walk to school. Some students, however, may be allowed to walk back to the nearest scheduled bus stop, subject to certain limits and carry capacity. In establishing bus routes, the staff considers health and safety measures, economy of operation and time schedules.

Requests for transportation to private and non public schools must be requested by April 1 for the following school year. The school must be within 15 miles of the student's home. The form is available for online submission.

Alternate pick up and drop off locations require the completion of the Alternate Transportation Request form. Requested pick up or drop off must be within the school of attendance boundary and must be 5 days a week. The request should be received by the August 1 preceding the start of the school year.

Letters containing pick up and drop off information are mailed to all registered students before the start of school in September. Our transportation supervisor, Linda Forster, is available to answer any questions or address your concerns. You may contact her at 716-407-9500.
