Middle School Bands

Clarence Music Department Logo

The Clarence Bands have enjoyed a “tradition of excellence” dating back to the 1960’s.

The Clarence Middle School bands meet daily and are organized into: Sixth Grade Band, Concert Band (typically 7th and 8th graders), and Symphonic Band (typically 7th and 8th graders). They can also audition for the Jazz Ensemble. Middle school students participate in Marching Band for the Clarence Labor Day Parade.

In the eighth grade, band students will audition for placement into one of the High School Bands: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, or Wind Ensemble.

Small group lessons take place weekly on a rotating basis, so a student will not miss the same class period more than once over the course of several weeks. Band rehearsals take daily during the school day at the middle school. Each band gives at least three public performances each year.

Band students have the opportunity to audition for and perform with the honors association ensembles through the New York State Schools Music Association (NYSSMA), (New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA), and All-County with the Erie County Music Educators Association (ECMEA).

Please be sure to read the Middle School Band Handbook.
