High School Orchestras
The Clarence High School Orchestra Program is comprised of weekly small group lessons and daily orchestra rehearsals, which take place during the school day.
Lessons are arranged to provide flexibility, so students miss as little class time as possible. Whether on a posted rotating schedule or in a sign up format, students should not miss the same class period more than two times in any marking period, and may even be able to schedule their lessons during lunches and study halls.
Orchestras are ability-based groups whose membership is determined by audition. The Concert Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra rehearse daily, and each gives at least three public performances per year. In addition, for quite a few years, the Symphony has performed at graduation. The high school also has a Chamber Orchestra- an extracurricular ensemble that rehearses Friday mornings before school. The Chamber Orchestra performs during the high school orchestra concerts.
The high school orchestras are conducted by Mr. Shaw.
