The event included a bicycle rodeo to improve young bicycle riders’ skills, bicycle and helmet safety checks and giveaway of items like helmets. Those coming to the May 16 event at Clarence Town Park on Main Street could also meet with community health and wellness providers, enjoy live music or take part in a yoga lesson with adoptable dogs.
“To see students take the elements of the bicycle rodeo seriously, and families able to access health and safety resources for families was incredible,” said Evan Vahratian, who leads the center. “It was really important to build social connections in a beautiful green space in our community.”
Among the organizations sponsoring the event were the Town of Clarence, Northstar Bikes, Clarence Central School District PTOs, Golisano Children’s Hospital Buffalo, Fidelis Care, Clarence Community Foundation, Clarence Rotary Club, John Brinkman and the Porch Pickers — Musical Guests, Clarence Conservation Advisory Council, Clarence Youth Bureau, Flex Yoga Buffalo, Nickel City Canine Rescue, Go To Girls, WNY Compassion Connection, 4TeamBrock, Three Sisters Farm, Dr. Josh Lynch and Michelle Lynch, Mental Health Advocates of WNY, Endeavor Health Services, Shurmatz Counseling, Cradle Beach, Folksy House, Camp Invention, Stutelage Innovations, Melody Magic, Colleen Siskar, LCAT, Just for Kids Summer Camps and WalMart.
