Clarence High School Artists Share Hands-On Inspiration with Elementary Students
Updated

Students in Clarence High School’s Art Partners took a hands-on approach to sharing their love for art with students at Harris Hill Elementary School, inspiring their younger counterparts to create artwork that started with tracings of their own hands.

With help from the older students, the elementary classes were able to make flowers and animals from their initial tracings, layering their art pieces with beads, popsicle sticks and googly eyes to bring additional life to their finished works. The younger students were also encouraged to let their creativity shine, with the High Schoolers starting the lesson by reading the book “Ish” by Peter H. Reynolds.

The April 30 lesson was the third time that the High School group has made the trip to the elementary school, with each year bringing the chance for students to share a new lesson and encourage their artistic development.
