Clarence Students Succeed at SkillsUSA Regional Competition
Updated

A pair of Clarence High School students found success as they competed against students from across the region at the Area 1 SkillsUSA Regional Competition.

Ethan Pinto finished in second place in the Electrical Construction Wiring competition, while Brody Kaufman finished in third place in the First Aid/CPR competition. The pair were a part of a group of about 100 students affiliated with Erie 1 BOCES to compete in the March 3 event at Alfred State College.

The Electrical Construction Wiring event requires competitors to complete a written test of question, a practical conduit bending exercise and hands-on installation of a conduit system, cabling system, and wiring devices. In the First Aid/CPR event, competitors are evaluated on their ability to take appropriate action in CPR first aid medical emergencies.

Top regional competitors will now compete against the best of the best from around the state in Syracuse in April, aiming to earn a gold medal and a spot at the national competition in June.

SkillsUSA students hone their hands-on skills against current industry standards in more than 100 occupational areas, from 3D Animation to Welding and nearly everything in between. At the same time, they develop transformative career-readiness skills like teamwork, communication, professionalism, and leadership, fueling career and life success.
