Costello-Sulik Appointed To Clarence Central School District Board of Education Vacancy
Updated

The Clarence Central School District Board of Education is proud to announce the selection of Dr. Adrienne Costello-Sulik to fill a recently created Board vacancy.

Dr. Costello-Sulik is a 1994 graduate of Clarence High School, as well as a parent of a current High School student. She holds a doctorate in English Education from the University at Buffalo, served as an associate professor of English Education at Buffalo State University, and currently works with her family business, Xtreme Discount Mattress.

The new Board member has volunteered with the Clarence Schools Enrichment Foundation (CSEF) and, through her family’s business, provided support to the Clarence Family Support Center.

“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Clarence School District, and I plan to prioritize listening, learning, and service while completing the remainder of this term,” Dr. Costello-Sulik said. “I will endeavor to collaborate with all Board members, listen to all stakeholders, and contribute to the District’s work in meaningful ways.”

The Board formally appointed Dr. Costello-Sulik at their August 19 meeting, and she will finish the term of trustee Kym Cannizzaro through May 2025. Cannizzaro, who resigned her position due to the time commitment necessary to start a new business, was praised by fellow members of the Board for her work benefiting the District’s schools.

With New York State law requiring the position filled within 90 days, the Board posted the vacancy on July 12, and eight applications were received by the deadline of July 26. The Board reviewed the initial applications to set up interviews with four candidates, which ended with the selection of Dr. Costello-Sulik.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Adrienne Costello-Sulik to our team, knowing that her passion for education and the community will make a positive impact,” said James Boglioli, President of the District’s Board of Education. “We look forward to her contributions as we continue to advance the educational goals of our district.”

The Board expressed their gratitude to everyone who applied for the vacancy for their support of the students, staff and families of the Clarence school community.
