Harris Hill Elementary School Marks Veterans Day
As students at Harris Hill Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day, they were reminded of the value of service.
“In serving others, we help our community and our nation,” said Col. Jim Schultz, a retired Army judge advocate who served as the event’s keynote speaker. “Veterans Day is a reminder to all of us that when we help others, we lift up everyone and make everything better. We celebrate veterans because they had a dangerous job to protect our country. But we all have a responsibility to take care of each other.”
The annual ceremony, a beloved tradition at the school, brought more than 30 military veterans to the school to be recognized by members of their family and community.
The day included patriotic songs and tributes, presentations from winners of a student writing contest and a tribute video in which students interviewed members of their family about their military service and values like teamwork, hard work and integrity.
