Incoming students at Clarence High School and Clarence Middle School had a chance to become acquainted with their new buildings and meet some of their teachers as they took part in orientation.

The orientation events on August 20 and 21 included a combination of icebreaker activities, building tours and classroom stops, allowing students to ask questions to become more familiar with their surroundings and some of the expectations for the upcoming school year.

“The more questions you ask, the better you’ll feel on day one,” said Beth Chelus, Grade 6 House Principal at Clarence Middle School.

At Clarence High School, incoming ninth grade students were guided during the two-day orientation by approximately 85 members of the junior and senior classes, and covered a wide range of topics to help students feel prepared.

“You get to know the building and meet some new faces,” said Jacqueline Fleming, Freshman Orientation adviser.

As part of the orientation activities, families of High School students were also able to attend an evening event on August 21. Middle School families were able to take part in an optional building walkthrough event on August 22.
