Ledgeview Elementary School student Mora Britzzalaro’s love of hockey and the Buffalo Sabres was rewarded with a chance to interview a Sabres player for the team’s Kids Takeover game.

Mora, a fifth grader at the school and goaltender for her Southtown Stars club team, interviewed goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as a junior reporter and was filmed for a video segment in December to be aired on the big screen at Keybank Arena for the Saturday, January 17 game.

“It was exciting,” Mora said.

Admitting some nerves prior to the interview, Mora asked Luukkonen questions about hockey as well as his favorite Taylor Swift song (“Blank Space”) and could he be scored on by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (No).

Mora said the 6-foot-5 Finnish goaltender was friendly, and taller than her teacher, Cameron Swantek. A self-described “big hockey fan,” Mora said she likes watching Sabres games when she isn’t playing with her siblings, and hoped the team would make the playoffs this year. Her enthusiasm for the game has grown with her time spent playing on the ice.

“I’ve known I wanted to be a goalie since I was 5,” said Mora, who has played in the position for the last three seasons. “I stuck with it.”
