Elementary students from across the Clarence Central School District took their talents to the track as they competed in the Jack Hesslink All-Elementary Track Meet.

The May 21 event, in its 68th year, brings together students to compete in sprints and relays along with events like high jump, long jump and softball throw. Every student in grades 3-5 was invited to participate, with more than 340 athletes taking part in the event.

“This event creates lasting memories for our elementary athletes,” said Stephanie Stevens, a physical education teacher at Ledgeview Elementary School who led the organization of this year’s event. “It teaches them about the sport of track and field and how this sport has something for everyone to excel at.”

Students from Clarence Center Elementary School, Harris Hill Elementary School, Ledgeview Elementary School and Sheridan Hill Elementary School wore school shirts as they competed during the event at Clarence High School.

Thank you to all of the students, teachers, staff, volunteers and families whose participation made the event a success.
