As the Clarence High School Class of 2025 marked their graduation, they were commended for both their academic achievements and their leadership in the school and in the community.

“This class is filled with not only talented students but tremendous student leaders that are genuinely great human beings,” said Principal Kenneth Smith, who called the class his favorite group of seniors in his career. “Throughout their time here, they have left a lasting impression not just for their achievements, but the spirit that you guys have brought to this school. You've built a community grounded on compassion and character.”

The 292 graduates at the district’s 153rd Commencement Ceremony on June 26 were celebrated for excellence in their academics as well as their pursuit of the arts and in activities like athletics.

Dr. Matthew Frahm, Superintendent of the Clarence Central School District, called this year’s class “impressive by any measure.”

“You've served as mentors, role models and culture shapers, making our school community stronger, more welcoming and more connected,” he said. “You didn't wait for permission to lead. You didn't ask if it was your turn. You simply stepped forward and made an impact.”

Valedictorian Gemma Hacker told her fellow graduates to directly face hardships and challenges they encounter.

“We can unanimously agree that life is filled with them (hardships), but after every fall, every loss, every failure, every adversity, what matters is if you decide to get up and persevere,” Gemma said. “That will make you all experienced and resilient.”

Other student speakers during the event included Clarence High School National Honor Society chapter president Daniel Klemenz, senior class president Morgan Shunk, Student Council president Olivia Collins, third-ranked graduate Adriana Colafranceschi and salutatorian Laura Kreher.

James Boglioli, Board of Education President, shared simple advice for the graduates as they proceed with their future plans: Call home.

“There's nothing like hearing the voice of someone you love and care about and there may be times on your journey when that voice on the other end of the line will provide you with comfort and support just when you need it most,” he said.
