Many colleges have their own scholarship opportunities. You can find these on individual college websites. Please see your counselor if any of them require a nomination.

2024 Series Scholarships for Academic Excellence

  • New York State offers awards based on academic excellence: the demonstrated ability to perform, achieve, and/or excel in scholastic activities.
  • 1 award for $1500
  • 7 awards for $500
  • The selection criteria is based on class rank
  • *no action is required by the student*

The Western Chapter of the New York Water Environment, Inc. (NYWEA) –  NYWEA is offering three awards, one in the amount of $1,500, one in the amount of $1,250, and one in the amount of $1,000, to be directly paid to the students.  The students must be a high school senior, reside in the geographic area and must be enrolled in an environmental related curriculum at the undergraduate level.   For scholarship guidelines and for an application click here

Garden Friends of Clarence Scholarship – This $500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from  Clarence High School who has excelled in a minimum of four science courses, has contributed significantly towards the beautification of their community and plans to pursue a career in science, technology or any of the following career paths: Landscape Design, Floral Design, Forestry, Environmental studies, Biotechnology,  Agriculture, Horticulture, Green/Renewable Energy & Green Technologies, and other related fields. Clarence Center Elementary PTO Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who attended Clarence Center Elementary School. The application is available here. .

Erie County Committee of the American Legion and Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek Scholarships- Two scholarships to students/veterans attending college in 2024. Visit

Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo – High school seniors in good standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher are considered for up to $6000 to be utilized toward educational expenses. Must be a resident of one of the eight counties in WNY.  Information is available at

Go To Girls, Inc. Kindness Award – Award recipient must exemplify the following characteristics and be a 2024 Clarence High School graduating senior who: 1.) exudes the definition of kindness: “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate” to their peers, teachers, staff and throughout the community. 2.) Goes above and beyond to ensure that others are not left alone. 3.) Gives generously of themselves with no expectation of reward or recognition.  Two winners will be selected for a $1500 award each.

The Italian American Police Association - The scholarships are in the names of two of our members who lost their lives in the line of duty. The scholarships are offered to high school seniors who have been accepted and will be attending college. There are no conditions of ethnic background, gender, or what degree they will pursue. Lancaster Elks Lodge #1478 Scholarship- Five $750 scholarships will be awarded to area high school seniors continuing their education by attending college, university or trade school.  For  application click here.

The Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association (E-NSSA) invites high school seniors planning to pursue teaching as a career to apply for the new E-NSSA Future Teacher Scholarship.  Interested applicants should complete this form.  One scholarship winner will receive $500 each year ($2000 total) during the pursuit and successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in education.

The Engineering Society of Buffalo, Inc. - Four- $300 per semester scholarships are available to students who anticipate acceptance in an A.B.E.T certified engineering or technology program at WNY Institutions of higher learning. Applications are available by clicking here.

Healthcare Workers for Our Future Scholarship -  provides a two-year scholarship to approximately 500 selected recipients covering tuition, room and board, and other related expenses in an approved program of study at any approved New York state public or private college or university.
