2026 Series Scholarships for Academic Excellence

 

  • New York State offers awards based on academic excellence: the demonstrated ability to perform, achieve, and/or excel in scholastic activities.

The Buffalo Police Athletic League - Lt. Craig Lehner Scholarship -This scholarship held by The Buffalo Police Athletic League was created in remembrance of Lt Lehner who dedicated his life to community service. The scholarship's goal is to assist and encourage deserving students seeking education in Criminal Justice and Law. embraceWNY Grant/Scholarship -https://embracewny.org/  and click on Apply for Funding.  This Scholarship has a rolling deadline.

The Erie County Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs – Two - $500 college scholarships are available for qualifying seniors who are residents of Erie County and who plan on attending an accredited college with a major in any one of these areas: environmental conservation, law enforcement, or environmental pollution. Scholarship applications are available at https://www.ecfsc.org/scholarship/.  

Future Technician Scholarships for High School Seniors – The Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Associations (ATA) has several scholarship opportunities for those seniors who want to further their education.  Applications are available at https://tmc.trucking.org/scholarships Deadline: April 15, 2026

Erie County Agricultural Society Scholarship and Erie County Fair Scholarship – The Erie County Fair awarded up to a record $105,000 to deserving students. Visit: www.ecfair.org/p/other/scholarships

The Aurora Players Theater in East Aurora will be awarding the Roberta Rathbun Scholarship for Theatrical Arts. This is a $1000 scholarship awarded to a WNY 2025 High School graduate who plans on continuing their higher education in a theater-related major. Tops Friendly Markets is proud to partner with Taste of Buffalo, Inc. to award a $1000 scholarship to a student pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts/Culinary Arts Management such as Nutrition & Wellness, Holistic Nutrition, Food Entrepreneurship, Food Retail Operations, Restaurant Operations, Food Science, Dietetics, Food Stylist, Food Photography, etc. The scholarship recipient will be selected based on the criteria and terms described on the last page of this scholarship application.

The Taste of Buffalo, Inc. in its continuing commitment to Western New York, is proud to offer a scholarship program for college-bound students in the eight counties of Western New York who will pursue a degree in Foodservice or the Hospitality industry such as Chef, Baking & Pastry Arts, Travel & Tourism, Hotel Management, etc. The following one-time 2026 scholarships, ranging from $1,000-$3500, will be awarded and will be based on the criteria and terms described on the last page of this scholarship application. Dena Goldstein Memorial Scholarship – Affiliated with the Community Foundation of Western New York and sponsored by Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center this scholarship is available to any Western New York high school senior who has a speech, language, and/or hearing disability and plans to further his/her education..  Applications may be downloaded from https://askbhsc.org/blog/dena-goldstein-memorial-scholarship-2026/

Angela Riordan Memorial Science Scholarship -  Amount of Scholarship:  two scholarships, each $500.00.
Criteria of Scholarship: The Angela Riordan Memorial Science Scholarship is awarded annually, and this year two graduating Clarence High School seniors will be awarded the scholarship, upon graduation, that have met the following requirements:
1. Successfully completed a minimum of four regents or higher-level science courses. 2. Exhibits an outstanding work ethic 
3. Pursues a career in science education or any other science related field. (please address this in the letter of intent) Each applying candidate must submit the following, and send(message/email) it as a single document to  Dr. Posch, kposch@clarenceschools.org (Attn: Angela Riordan Scholarship)  1. A completed application form;  fill in the blue areas (available here).  2. A letter of intent explaining how you have met each of the three requirements listed above. Fill in the blue area designated for this letter.
Deadline: Tuesday, April 17, 2026.  No exceptions.
 

The Erie 1 BOCES Educational Foundation, in partnership with the Amherst Federal Credit Union, is accepting scholarship applications for 2026. These scholarships are exclusive to graduating seniors who are enrolled in an Erie 1 BOCES program.  Visit: https://www.e1b.org/about-us/educational-foundation  Deadline:  April 18, 2026

Scalp and Blade Scholarship - This $2500 scholarship is renewable for a total of four years, providing the student maintains satisfactory grades in college.  Only one senior male can be nominated by his high school principal or guidance counselor.  Candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic accomplishment in terms of grades and college entrance exams, extracurricular activities, community involvement as well as financial need. If you wish to be nominated, the application is available here and needs to be submitted to Mrs. Fuller in the Guidance Office by April 20, 2026 for consideration.  The Scalp and Blade committee deadline to receive the submission is May 1, 2026

Student-View Scholarship-$13,500 worth of scholarship money to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply log onto www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. Deadline: April 23, 2026

Allentown Art Festival Student Art Scholarships – Scholarships totaling more than $25,000 was awarded this past year. Scholarships are available to current high school seniors who have been accepted to post-secondary schools in a full-time visual arts study program.  Visit: https://www.allentownartfestival.com/ scholarships for application and more information.  Deadline: April 25, 2026

Kidsplay Scholarship - $1,000 awarded to a graduating senior who participated in a KidsPlay program as a child. Scholarship is given in memory of Keaton Marek and Sean Scott, two wonderful young men and former KidsPlay players.  Apply online at www.kidsplaywny.com/scholarship

Erie County Historical Federation Scholarship - $500 awarded to a high school senior planning to study history at an accredited institution of higher learning. Click here for more information.  Deadline: May 1, 2026

Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo – High school seniors in good standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher are considered for up to $6000 to be utilized toward educational expenses. Must be a resident of one of the eight counties in WNY.  Information is available at www.cfgbscholarships.org. Deadline: May 1, 2026

Erie County Committee of the American Legion and Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek Scholarships- Two separate scholarships to available by visiting  www.eriecountyal.org

Garden Friends of Clarence Scholarship – This $500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Clarence High School senior who has excelled in a minimum of four science courses, has contributed significantly towards the beautification of their community and plans to pursue a career in science, technology or any of the following career paths: Landscape Design, Floral Design, Forestry, Environmental studies, Agriculture, Horticulture, Green Energy & Green Technologies, and other related fields. The Italian American Police Association - The scholarships are in the names of two of our members who lost their lives in the line of duty. The scholarships are offered to high school seniors who have been accepted and will be attending college. Apply on-line at www.iapawny.org Deadline:  May 15, 2026

The Little Red Schoolhouse – $250 scholarships awarded to three seniors in high school who will be attending college in September 2026.  For qualifications and directions click here.

Go To Girls, Inc. Kindness Award – Two - $1500 scholarships awarded to graduating seniors who exude the definition of kindness: “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate” to their peers, teachers, staff and throughout the community. Students who go above and beyond to ensure that others are not left alone and

The Engineering Society of Buffalo, Inc. – Four $500 per semester scholarships are available to students who anticipate acceptance in an A.B.E.T www.abet.org certified engineering or technology program at WNY Institutions of higher learning. Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Program:
To apply for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have completed high school (or equivalency) by July 1
Plan to attend a not-for-profit community college or trade/vocational school
Enroll in an associate’s degree, certificate, or diploma program by September that will lead to employment
May not be enrolled in pre-requisite courses
Demonstrate financial need (applicants must show household income of $100,000 or less)
Be under the age of 35
Be a United States citizen
