Health Class Information

May 2024

As part of the New York State mandated health curriculum, HIV/AIDS and human growth and development education is taught to Clarence Middle School seventh grade students in Health class. This portion of the curriculum is part of the normal unit on diseases, personal development, human growth, family life education, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We intend to begin this unit in the beginning of June.

Instruction will be at an age-appropriate level and is directly correlated to material that has previously been presented in school to your child. The parent or legal guardian of any student attending the Clarence Central Schools has the right to have his/her child excluded from instruction concerning the methods of prevention of HIV/AIDS and human growth and development. If you choose to submit this request, please promptly do so in writing or by email to Mr. Lauer, 7th Grade House Principal, by May 22, 2024.

If you do request to have your child excluded from the instruction in school, it is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian to provide that instruction.

Feel free to contact Mr. Lauer at 407-9200 if you have any questions, or if you would like to speak to the teacher before instruction begins.
