Important things you need to know

WEBSITE
Please check the website for important information.  Go to Clarenceschools.org, under schools choose Middle School.  You will find updated information, announcements, letter days, code of conduct, student handbook, supply list, etc.  For new student information click on the + sign next to Welcome to the Middle School and scroll down to New Student Information & Forms to Complete. 

ABSENCES
If your student will be late to school, absent from school or is being picked up early, please call the Attendance Office at 716-407-9200, press 2.  A note is required for each of these scenarios.  When picking up your student early, you will come to the front door and show your ID.  Your student will come out to you.  If your student returns, he/she should report to the Attendance Office and sign back in.

HOMEWORK
Students should check Schoology for work when absent and contact teachers with questions (via Schoology). 

HEALTH OFFICE

If students are feeling sick, they should ask their teacher for a pass to see the school nurse.  The nurse will contact home if necessary.  Students should not call or text their parent using their cell phone.

END OF DAY PICK UP
A note is not required if you are picking up your student at dismissal, nor do you need to come into the building.  Your student will come out to you. 

BUSES
Please call the Transportation Office at 716-407-9500 with questions regarding bus pick up/drop off.  Bus numbers can be found on Parent Portal prior to the start of school in the fall. During the first week of school, students should check with their headquarters teacher for updates on bus number.  If students do not know their bus number, they should see their House Office Secretary. 

CLUBS/INTRAMURALS
Please check the website for information regarding clubs/intramurals.  If you have a question, please email the club advisor.  A complete list of clubs/intramurals can be found on the CMS website under Academics.  Students should listen to daily announcements for club updates.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Morning announcements are posted to the website daily under Building Information.  Please check for important information.

TREEHOUSE
The CMS Treehouse is a place for students to get extra help with work before school, during the school day, and after school. If students want to go to the Treehouse during the school day, they should ask their teacher for a pass and sign in when they arrive. If students want to go to the Treehouse before school, they should report to the cafeteria in the morning. The Treehouse is open after school Monday – Thursday for students who need a quiet place to complete their schoolwork.

CELL PHONE
Cell phone use is not permitted during the school day.  Phones must be turned off and stored in student’s backpack.  If students need to call home for an emergency, there is a phone in the house office. 

DO NOT LEAVE BACKPACKS, LUNCH BAGS OR INSTRUMENTS IN THE HALLWAY:
Items should be placed in your locker (remove some items from your backpack, if necessary, to make it fit. Instruments can be kept in the band/orchestra rooms).
