The History of Sheridan Hill

Sheridan Hill was built in 1958 and opened in September of 1959.  It served as an elementary school for eighteen years and was then closed for a period of twelve years.  During that time Sheridan Hill was rented to The Christian Central Academy and then to Erie I BOCES.

Sheridan Hill was reopened as a kindergarten-sixth grade elementary school in September of 1988 with an enrollment of about 300 students.  Since 1988 the Clarence Central School District, and the Sheridan Hill School continued to grow.  In the mid 90's 6th grades were moved to the Middle School.  For the 2006-2007 school year only, sixth grades were housed at all elementary schools while the Middle School underwent major renovation.

In 2001, Sheridan Hill underwent a major renovation project that added several additional classrooms.  Today, Sheridan Hill is a kindergarten-fifth elementary building that serves a population of approximately 560 students.  The Sheridan Hill School is committed to creating an environment that provides a high level of academic achievement within a climate that is safe, caring and emotionally secure for our students.  We stress the virtues of respect, acceptance, cooperation and effort as we assist youngsters in their growth and development.

The mission of the Clarence Central School District is to develop lifelong learners who are independent, responsible and contributing members of a diverse society.  At  Sheridan Hill we develop the foundation that supports our young people as they grow.
