Update from Clarence CSD September 17, 2021

Dear Clarence School Family,

We have had a great start to the year, and we want to say thank you for all the daily steps you are taking to help keep our school community safe. While I wish I could report that there were 0 positive cases this past week, we are grateful that transmissions seem to be limited at this point. I have provided a snapshot from this past week below, and I want to emphasize how much we appreciate all the proactive, preventative steps you are taking to care for students and staff.

  • 1 individual from Clarence High School tested positive, 0 quarantined
  • 2 individuals from Sheridan Hill Elementary School tested positive, 17 quarantined

On a personal note, I can’t tell you how impressed I have been spending time in classrooms over the past few days. Everyone knows that Clarence is one of the premier school districts in Western New York, and after spending time with students and staff, it isn’t hard to see why.

Because of current limitations on visitors and volunteers, however, we know that it is especially difficult for parents to see the academic magic that takes place in Clarence classrooms each day. To help turn our school walls from brick to glass, we have begun exploring possibilities involving social media. If you have a Twitter account, we would encourage you to follow @ClarenceCSD and to use the hashtag #ClarenceProud to see some great pictures of our students in action. (If you are not on Twitter, you can still follow us by visiting the bottom portion of our newly redesigned homepage.) Right now, we are taking things one step at a time, but we look forward to sharing additional ways you can connect with us later on this fall.

Thanks again for being the partners that you are. Our focus continues to be on maximizing in-person learning, and we know that this is only possible with your sustained support.

Matt Frahm, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
